Every artist has an opinion on the best way to use a sketchbook. My take? Do what works for you. I use my sketchbook for studies and practice, fun sketches, thumbnails for larger pieces, and the occasional finished painting. The most important aspect of my sketchbook is its portability. I bring it with me everywhere, because you never know when inspiration (or boredom) will strike.
